Charity Activities in July

Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country with a long tradition of practice. Its people are kind and benevolent. Over the past four difficult years, many people have had to leave the country to work abroad, and numerous families have not had enough food to eat daily. Many children do not have the conditions to attend school.

In the past six months, the Truc Lam Meditation Center has continued its charitable activities:

  1.       1. Providing rice and offerings to elderly nuns in Sri Lanka

  2.       2. Scholarships for children in special circumstances

  3.       3. Monthly vegetarian meal distributions for the homeless on full moon days

  4.       4. Emergency rice relief

  5.       5. One-day meditation retreats on Sundays

  6.       6. Children’s meditation retreats

  7.       7. Daily food offerings for the monks at Truc Lam Meditation Center

Now, this merits to all the teachers, Vietnamese Buddhists both in Vietnam and abroad.

“A morsel of food given during a famine is more precious than a package given when full.” Anyone who has followed the activities of the Truc Lam Meditation Center over the past four years knows that everything is real—real people and real deeds.

A word of positive encouragement, a shared gesture of love, is a great gift to help the Truc Lam Meditation Center continue its silent charitable programs in Sri Lanka.

Sincerely grateful,
Sukhi hotu
