Offering Robes – Kathina Ceremony
The Kathina Ceremony takes place at the end of the Rains Retreat (Vassa), a time when the monks are provided with new robes donated by Buddhists. This is one of the significant festivals where the Buddhists show their devotion and support to the monastic community.
Five benefits of offering Kathina robes:
- The donor of the Kathina robe can travel anywhere as desired without any obstacles in each lifetime.
- The donor of the Kathina robe can easily perform their duties wherever they go.
- The donor of the Kathina robe can digest any food easily in each lifetime.
- The donor of the Kathina robe can keep various ornaments without fear of being robbed.
- The donor of the Kathina robe cannot have their assets taken away by anyone using power, unless they wish to give them away.
The Kathina Robe and Offering Ceremony at Truc Lam Monastery, one of the largest ceremonies at the monastery, is held annually after the 3-month Vassa retreat. The ceremony is always attended by the Vice Sangha Leader Hòa Thượng Phó Tăng Thống Asgiriya, Sri Lankan and Vietnamese monks and nuns, as well as international monastic students in Sri Lanka.
We cordially invite everyone to create merit by contributing to the Kathina Ceremony.
The monastery is grateful for any amount you can offer.
The Kathina Ceremony includes the offering of robes, gifts, and monetary donations to each monk and nun of approximately 1,000,000 VND.
Specific details of the program will be announced on the Truc Lam Monastery’s website and communication channels.
